25 Ways to find Joy - Not one cent

Hello dear friends, My wonderful Fearless Living Life Coach, Joseph, has given me another assignment which I am going to ask for your help with.

On my Wheel of Freedom, my "core need" is Joy. It is to not only experience Joy, but to bring Joy to others, which also brings me Joy. So, it is a circle. Since my greatest joy comes from coaching and taking classes that build my coaching knowledge, he wanted me to stretch myself.

Since Joy is a core need, it is pretty important. My assignment this week (along with a lot of other stuff) is to list 25 ways that I can bring myself joy that does not cost one penny. Not one penny!!!

I can think of a few things: 1) Getting a book from the library - doesn't cost anything that way. 2) Knit something from my stash of yarn (knitting is my mediation.) 3) Taking a nap with my cockatiel, JD - my bird brings me joy.
4) Having friends over to talk and share. 5) Renting a funny or old movie from the library.

Now it starts getting more difficult. Can't cost a penny!!! That leaves off going anywhere because gas costs a lot of money. So there goes the beach or mountains. Five is like about 20 short of the assignment. Help!!!!! He loved the comments about crying - now we have this one. I could really use your help. Thanks, Judith

  2. How about taking a walk in nature? I'll bet there's a park close by. Take a dog along for an extra hit of joy - they are delighted to get out and sniff and pee. They are sure to give you joy, if only to watch their tail wag. If there's no dog available, take a friend or neighbor. Breathe the air in deeply.

Try searching UTube for "love" or "joy" videos.

Call friends and ask them for contributions to your free joy project. This is sure to create joy in everyone's life that you touch.

  3. Joy can be so varied with all of us. I will share with you some of the things that bring me JOY :)
Praying, finishing a quilt, starting a quilt, giving a gift to someone, holding a baby, fixing my leaky faucet, putting in a new toilet and seeing it work properly, (whoever said women can't do anything!)(and no, it didn't cost any $ because it was donated from a remodeling job ) working in my garden, making a birdhouse from scrap lumber and materials, watching the birds in their new house, teaching a patient something about their sickness or illness, helping a patient do something they may need help with, painting (on anything), sewing something, anything :) (yes, I have a huge stash of fabric), cooking for someone special, looking at the ocean, holding my beloved kitties, singing, listening to music, yoga, watching animals (dogs, cats, birds, fish, raccoons, possums, ducks, etc...), taking a walk and looking at nature around me, and the most elusive of all-
being in love. I am sure I could think of tons more, but that's it for now.

  4. Here are some of mine:

*Looking very closely at a flower in nature and marveling at how it knows how to be beautiful :-)
*Watching the squirrels and birds, especially when a neighborhood cat is in the yard and they are none-too-pleased about it.
*Dancing in my living room to upbeat music
    *Watching children at play
*Splashing through mud puddles and then coming inside and having hot tea or hot chocolate
*Going to the fabric store and running my hands over the bolts of velvet, chenile and other luxurious fabrics
*Finding pictures of baby animals on the web
*Curling up in a sunny spot with my cat, a great book, hot tea and a warm blankie :-)
*Really good dark chocolate, especially when paired with a glass of really good red wine....mmmmmmm
*Reading a great book in a full tub of hot water with good aromatherapy (and ear plugs so I don't hear my 2 year old banging on the door because I'm in his bathtub :-)
*Watching sappy chic flicks, especially ones that have dancing in them (the Japanese version of Shall We Dance; Dance With Me; Mad Hot Ballroom - not sappy, but uplifting)
*Finding frogs, snakes and other critters out in nature
*When it's dry outside, crunching through crisp, dead leaves
*Helping someone with something that is really important to them

Great assignment, Judith - thank you for sharing it with us and helping me reconnect to joy for myself!!

  5. I would add "dressing up" (tea parties) to your list; just "laughing" about anything; "being silly" with someone and not worried about what others think, "holding a new baby" - these are Joyful activities!

  6. Bring joy.... I have a child so bringing joy or feeling joy to me is participating and seeing a development in my child like learning to read, or performing a task that has been difficult in the past. I suppose you could feel joy helping somebody do something and then seeing them get it,see the light.

  8. Since I have dancer daughters and also sometimes review lousy dancing DVD’s like Step Up 2 the Streets , I can see how dance movies are ripe for the spoofing. Girl (or boy) from the right side of the streets meets boy (or girl) from
